The Heart of America Council (Kansas City) is hosting an NRA Training
Counselor (TC) Develop Workshop at Theodore Naish Scout Reservation on
March 16 - 18, 2012.
The NRA Training Counselor is critical to developing and maintaining a
strong shooting sports program in your Council. Units that go on
shooting outings must have an NRA Instructor in each shooting dicipline
(pistol, rifle, shotgun, muzzleloading) in which the unit is
participating and an NRA Range Safety officer to supervise the activity.
The NRA Training Counselor is the person who can teach, and certify NRA
Instructors and NRA Range Safety Officers.
This training event is not for everyone. It will be open only to BSA
registered adults who are NRA Certified Instructors and have the
necesary credentials to qualify.
This from the NRA web site: "Workshop attendees must be NRA Certified
Instructors and current NRA Members with a minimum of two years' recent
experience teaching NRA Basic Firearm Training Courses according to
current NRA standards. They must also be intimately familiar with NRA
instructional methods, training materials, and administrative procedures
as a result of this experience. (Five NRA-approved courses and 25
students is the absolute minimum experience recommended for workshop
attendance.)
The application can be found at the following link:
