Dear Friend,
Our organization, The International Order of the Alhambra, is a group dedicated to assisting the developmentally disabled. We sponsor outings and fundraisers for special needs people. A few of our projects are the Special Olympics, a research chair at Case Western University in Ohio, an Alhambra House program where the Order purchases a home to inspire community integrated living arrangements, as well as the Alhambra Scholarship fund which provides scholarships to qualified individuals to further their education to teach the developmentally disabled.
Throughout the year, we also sponsor other events including the Ice Capades, Kane County Cougars baseball outing, the plays at Drury Lane Theatre, a Charity Ball in which we brought over 225 of God's Special People, a Luncheon Cruise on the Odyssey with over 750 participants, and a Picnic with over 1000 of God’s Special People in attendance, Carnivals, and Christmas Celebrations. We were also awarded as a Community Leader 2002 by the Ray Graham Association for People with Developmental Disabilities, and Community Advocate 2008 by A.I.D. (Association for Individual Development). Now that you have a better idea of what we are about, we would appreciate any assistance you would be able to offer.
At last year’s annual Christmas Party, the day was non-stop fun, filled with food, beverages, a DJ, and plenty of dancing. There was also a special visit from St. Nick, and many gifts for all in attendance. Your donations make these types of events possible.
The personal rewards that come from your association with the developmentally disabled in your community are beyond belief. You will feel their love when you catch them at the finish line of a Special Olympics event, or when you join in games with them at picnics and outings, or receive a hug from them on the presentation of a gift of a new wheelchair, brace or other equipment important to their functioning in everyday life.
We will be hosting our Annual Christmas Party for over 700 developmentally disabled people at Harvest Bible Chapel, 1805 High Point Drive, Naperville on Thursday, December 17, 2009.
This letter is directed to you in hopes that we can implore on your generosity that we may be able to make this event an enjoyable and lasting day for God’s Special people. Any donations or help you can provide will be greatly appreciated. Supplies, Christmas gifts, food, beverages, and/or monetary donations would be greatly appreciated.
If you have any questions or desire further information please do not hesitate to contact me 708-417-4464.
